Pawsome Community Event Has Tails Wagging in Logan

January 8, 2026 | IN Media Release and News | BY AVID | 3 min read

From a dog park and walking trails to free events and training, one award-winning Logan community has made four-legged family members a priority by developing spaces that respond to the increase in demand for pet-friendly neighbourhoods.

With Logan set to be home to more than 105,000 pets by 2036 – a seventy per cent increase from 2022 – Covella by AVID Property Group (AVID) and Greenfields Development Company (Greenfields) has placed a dedicated focus on creating spaces for pets to enjoy their community as much as their owners.

Chairman of the joint venture with Greenfields, AVID Executive General Manager Bruce Harper said in its aim to create a truly inclusive and welcoming community, every member of the family had to be considered, including the beloved family pet.

“Pets are a cherished member of the family and play a key role in maintaining our strong community spirit, encouraging neighbours to enjoy community spaces on daily walks and connecting with other residents over shared interests,” Mr Harper said.

“Every effort has been made to create dedicated pet-friendly spaces within the community including a dog park, walking trails and even blocks up to half an acre in size with spacious backyards – in addition to the almost 50 dog parks in the wider Logan area, there’s certainly no shortage of enjoyment for Covella’s furry friends.

“We also frequently host events to bring both our four- and two-legged residents together, most recently hosting annual event Paws in the Park which saw residents mingle over free coffee and dog treats, while experts shared their best training tips and residents learnt about fostering and adoption in the local area.”

With extensive mental and physical benefits to owning a pet, including increased socialisation, fewer visits to the doctor and reduced stress, pet ownership in Covella is encouraged with approximately seven kilometres of walking trails and more than a third of the neighbourhood dedicated to open, green space.

Covella resident Justine Newland said when choosing their home, she and her partner Jamie searched for a neighbourhood away from the hustle and bustle of the city, that would easily accommodate a future pet.

“While a furry friend was not part of the family yet, we knew it was something we wanted and made sure to choose an area with plenty of space and outdoor amenities,” Ms Newland said.

“When moving in, we hadn’t connected with many of our neighbours, but after rescuing our Border Collie-Greyhound cross, Lola, we quickly formed several strong friendships through our frequent trips to the dog park.

“Our favourite aspect of Covella is the community-feel, and it means a lot to our family that the community goes the extra mile for pets and that there are ample opportunities, like the recent Paws in the Park event, to really connect with our community, especially when we can include Lola and her newfound four-legged neighbours.”
